Watercolor Portrait Workshop with Dongfeng Li July 29, 30, 31 2011 at the Middletown Arts Center
In this watercolor portrait class the student will work on drafting the face, color block and glazing and lost and found edges management. They will also work on construction and coloring of the features: eyes and eye brows, nose, mouth, and ears from different angles. Day One will be working with a photo and Day Two will be with a live model.
Dongfeng Li is a nationally acclaimed artist in oriental brush, watercolor/pastel portrait/figure painting, and plein air painting. He began his art education in China and earned a MA and MFA since 2000 in the United States. Hehas taught workshops in all of these media for the last 12 years. He currently teaches at the Department of Art & Design at Morehead State University in Kentucky.His work has won awards in competition including the IDE Memorial Award at the 2008 American Watercolor Society International Exhibition. He believes that he will bring a unique cultural interpretation of these art forms to this workshop.
